  • The project will consist of a total of 230 tonnes of reinforcement and 3200m3 low-carbon concrete
  • On target to achieve 376 apprenticeship weeks and create 7 new jobs starts in and around the Milton Keynes area
  • Works on site commenced November 2022 and is due to open to patients in Summer 2024

About the project

MKUH is the new Radiotherapy Centre to adjoin the existing hospital’s Cancer Centre, located in Milton Keynes.

The project is a new Linear Accelerator Bunker that will house two Linac machines. There will be a new reception and waiting area, a CT suite, consulting rooms and staff spaces on the first floor. There will also be soft landscaping with relaxing scenery adjoining the existing Cancer Centre. To prevent radiation leakage from the Linac machines, the concrete for the bunker walls varies from 1.7m to 2.6m thick. By using low-carbon concrete, we have saved an equivalent CO2 emission from heating over 160 homes a year.

Working in the Milton Keynes community

Making a positive difference in the communities we work is a vital part of our responsible business plan. Our Community Investment Group supports our project teams in the delivery of local community engagement projects. The Northern Home Counties team is part of the wider London & Home Counties business unit, which operates out of four regional offices, the Welwyn Garden City Office being associated with this project.

Christabel Adjei, assistant site manager, is the dedicated community contact for the MKUH Radiotherapy Centre and will maintain communications with neighbours and the surrounding community. If you have any questions, please do get in touch with Christabel via the contact form at the bottom of the page with any queries regarding the project.

As a business we are proud members of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, which has a Code of Considerate Practice designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.

This page will provide a snapshot of activities we have been undertaking in the local community.
