The project team have enjoyed delivering a series of presentations to students across various subjects to help put theory into practice.
Our Senior Planner, David Matthew, delivered a presentation to Business students, along with Senior Project Manager David Gray. The presentation ‘Introducing Gantt Charts’ explained how Gantt charts work and how they are applied in practice in project management and specifically on our Maybole Community Campus project. The students were then presented with a task to complete their own Gantt Chart set by David Matthew before he provided an overview of the general role of a planner and an introduction to careers in construction.
We are grateful to have the support of BDP in providing a presentation to Geography students on why the site location was chosen for the project. This will help build the student’s knowledge regarding why that site was selected, the advantages/disadvantages of building there and the social, environmental, and economic impacts it has had. The students will be welcomed for a site tour to deepen their understanding of some of the considerations discussed.
Our Senior SHE Advisor, Paul Dabrera, presented an ‘Introduction to Risk Assessments’ to Biology students. The presentation emphasised the importance of safety at work, especially within the construction industry, and discussed how we use risk assessments and PPE on our projects. We were delighted to have the support of JSP – global leaders in ‘above the neck’ protection - in delivering this presentation.
The project team have delivered a series of four presentations to Business students on the ‘Safety at Work Act’. The presentation brought the Act to life, explaining the theory of the Safety at Work Act, and how we apply this on site at Maybole Community Campus.
