Here's the latest update
Site activities:
Another successful month here at the Houghton Regis Community & Leisure centre project The steel frame is nearing completion with all the large glulam beams that span over the pools now installed. Internally the blockwork walls have now commenced and have started to give a feel of the rooms and layout of the ground floor. The remaining steel deck to the first floor is now complete and works to install the reinforcement in preparation of the concrete pour is underway.
Car park works are progressing well, with 60% of the kerbs now installed. Filtration pipework to the confidence pool has now commenced and we will then commence the works to form the pool.
Community engagement
Senior Project Manager, Bipin Mepani, and Social Value Manager, Norma Odain-Hines, attended “The Preparing for Adulthood Festival” in Bedford, which is an event aimed at getting careers advice to young people with special educational need and disabilities.
Tommy Fisher, a student at Bedford College, attends site 2 days a week as part of his T Level course,
Over the next few weeks we have visits from 2 sets of school students planned
Upcoming work
A busy month ahead for the site in which we will see the completion of the structural frame. This will then lead to the commencement of the main roof works. The installation of the roof provides much needed protection from winter weather meaning the internal wall construction can progress on the first floor.
We will also be laying tarmac to a section of the new car park to enable us to move our site car park to a new temporary location. Our scaffold contractor will commence the works to build the scaffold to the external perimeter to allow the installation of the external brickwork.
