HERE'S THE LATEST UPDATE
Site activities
Momentum continues to build as the weather improves and the cold temperatures that have hampered key trades has (hopefully) passed. The main roof is progressing well and we have made a start on the lower-level flat roof. Blockwork is ongoing and the low- level plinth brickwork around the exterior of the building has begun. Half of the car park is complete, and now in use for sub-contractor parking, and the 2nd half of the carpark is progressing well.
Community Engagement
We have taken on an apprentice Quantity Surveyor through CoTrain for the duration of the job. CoTrain is a shared apprenticeship scheme which encourages young people to join construction. We also have an aspiring site manager Tommy Fisher, a student of Bedford College. He attends site 2 days a week as part of his T Level course.
Upcoming work
The external brick and blockwork will continue to both the main building and the sub-station and bin store. Scaffolding is being erected around the building to permit safe access for the blockwork and brickwork forming the external facade. The roof netting should be released in the coming weeks to allow the intumescent fire spraying to commence at high level.
