Site Activities
April can’t fool us here at the Houghton Regis Community and Leisure Centre! Large areas of the main roof are now complete with the top sheet (BEMO) roof clearly visible, and the installation of the rainwater pipes has commenced. The internal blockwork is progressing well and is now at full height in many elevations, including over eight meters in the first-floor squash court areas. Concrete slabs around the pools have been poured and the car park now has the base course of tarmac laid.
Community Engagement
Our Social Value Manager has visited several schools over the past few weeks interviewing students for work experience placements. 5 students will get the opportunity in the coming months to attend site for a week to get valuable experience of working in the construction industry. Last month’s visit to the Bucks Skill Show at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and the careers fair at Henlow Academy were a great success.
Upcoming Work
The improved weather conditions should increase the momentum in the coming months. Now that the scaffolding is in place brickwork will start on the external façade from the first floor upwards and internal blockwork will continue to create the rooms within the Centre. With the substation brickwork now complete works will commence on its roof. T Clarke (Mechanical & Electrical Contractor) will be commencing their works as the relevant areas become available.
